The K&N 69-5317TS air intake system is designed to smoothen, straighten, and increase air flow for some Hyundai Elantra models. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout the engine's RPM range. The cone shaped air filter is made out of the original K&N oiled cotton gauze filter media which is engineered to have outstanding filtration and air flow. The air filter can go up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed (depending on driving conditions). Once air travels past the air filter it goes through the included velocity stack which smoothens the air flow to the mandrel-bent aluminum intake tube and finally to the factory turbo inlet. The factory crank case vent hose, and air injection hose mount directly on the intake tube. A heat shield with rubber edge trim is also included to keep engine bay heat out. The restrictive factory air filter, intake housing and intake tube are all replaced by the free-flowing Typhoon 69-5315TS air intake system which also reuses the existing factory mounting points for installation. Some Typhoon air intakes are not legal for sale or use in California and other states adopting California emission standards while others are CARB exempt and 50 state legal. Check the vehicle applications and specific CARB status for each vehicle and air intake.
